The torrential Atuel and Diamante Rivers have led to the creation of a number of hydroelectric dams, as well as a large reservoir and lakes, which have become major tourist sites. The lakes and rivers offer wonderful opportunities for water sports and great scenery. San Rafael also has a dazzling canyon formed by the Atuel River, with incredible rock formations.
