apply nowAPI students in Ecuador will get to see many different facets of this beautiful country: from the quaint colonialism of the capital city, to indigenous marketplaces, to amazing environmental sites such as snow-capped volcanoes, dense jungles, and even a cloud forest.  Students will begin their journey in the capital city of Quito, where they will spend several days acclimating to the local culture.  Service projects will take place in the smaller town of Guamote, as well as, in the forests and farms northwest of Quito.

Credit

No academic credit. A certificate documenting 20 hours of community service is provided upon completion.

Prerequisites

Students must have completed at least one year of high school Spanish or the equivalent.

 

Many days of this very active itinerary will be spent at a high altitude. It is recommended that participants who have known issues with altitude sickness or mobility concerns consult their doctor prior to applying to the program.
